Merry Edwards Klopp Ranch Pinot Noir 2018

Russian River Valley, CA
93 pts. Wine Enthusiast:

“Forest, clove, oak and thick tannin make for a hearty entry into this perennially impressive vineyard-designate — one of the producer's earliest partnerships. Weighty and powerful, it offers forest floor, tea and wild strawberry, the acidity lasting and lively.” ― Virginie Boone

92 pts. Vinous:

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch is a racy wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, cola, spice and blood orange all open up nicely in the glass. There is plenty of Russian River exuberance. The finish is a bit tight, but otherwise, this is very nicely done.” ― Antonio Galloni

91+ pts. Wine Advocate:

"Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Klopp Ranch offers aromas of cranberries, rhubarb and blackberries with notes of earth, tar and woodsmoke. The medium-bodied palate has pretty, earth-laced fruits with a grainy frame and uncomplicated finish. This feels youthfully mute and may open up with some more time in bottle.” ― Erin Brooks

This lovely Pinot Noir is classic Russian River style - bold and beautiful! It boasts wonderful pure fruit flavors in abundance. If you like your Pinots full-bodied but not a "berry bomb", this one's for you! - Wine Factor

FROM THE WINERY
VINTAGE:

The Klopp Vineyard, located on the eastern slope of the Laguna Ridge, overlooks the Laguna de Santa Rosa wintertime lake. The owner of this vineyard, Ted Klopp, is an old friend of Merry’s and their working relationship dates back to the late 1980s, when she consulted for him at the time the ranch was planted. The approachable and inviting 2018 vintage perfectly illustrates the character of this wine. Klopp Ranch delivers this classic fruit profile year after year. The oldest blocks contributed the fruit that created this bottling ― pairing the heritage Pommard and Swan clones to make a beautiful blend!
