Donum Carneros Pinot Noir 2019
Los Carneros AVA, CA
95 pts. James Suckling:
"Lots of blue fruit here with tile and terra cotta. Some crushed stone, too. Full-bodied with a dusty texture and lots of dark fruit, as well as some watermelon. Creamy texture. Beautiful now, but will improve with age."
94 pts. Wine Enthusiast:
"This is a juicy, lengthy and broadly expansive wine, herbal and spicy throughout. A showcase of the estate, it offers substantial structure and density, with rich layers of boysenberry, black tea and baking-spiced oak."
92 pts. Wine Spectator:
"Rich and deeply flavored, with dried beef accents to the broad-textured dried red cherry and berry flavors. The juicy and succulent finish is well-spiced and backed by rich acidity."
Bold and beautiful, the Donum Carneros Pinot Noir is an impressive wine that just screams money! The rich, dense, dark fruit flavors coat the tongue; the finish goes on forever! This is a wine to share with special friends and to SAVOR. - Wine Factor
FROM THE WINERY
The Donum ranch covers the slopes of three hills in the Carneros region just north of San Pablo Bay. Nestled amid these hills is a 90-acre vineyard, planted to a diverse collection of Dijon clones and heirloom selections of Pinot Noir. Our Carneros Estate Pinot Noir is a selection of the most appealing barrels within the various lots from across our Estate, including fruit from our newest vineyard blocks at the front of the property as well as the established blocks at the back of the vineyard, planted in 1990. This wine is intended to represent both the Carneros region as a whole, and also the unique terroir of our Estate ranch.
WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2019 Carneros Pinot Noir is deep ruby in color, with aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, dried cranberry, and the signature note of Donum Vineyard, sassafras. The palate offers wild blueberry, blackberry, caramel, and a hint of sea salt. The finish is lush, with rich baking spice lingering. Recommended drinking window is 2022-2026.
